reception once they switch to digital only.
i have contacted the government with no response

  4. What is happening with the awful reception? they said it was suppost to be fixedonce the tower was moved but i beleive it has gotten worse!

I went to the land sale office and got the number for the company who looks after the system and was told that it was tough , as that is what was paid for and there is no plan to improve it, You say that we are not allowed aerials well lift your game Lesters and provide us with Quality and RELIABLE television reception

  5. I also, would like to know when we will be able to receive the Freeview HD channels from Perth. It seems there was a fair bit of money involved in moving the tower, why wasn't it upgraded there and then..especially knowing that digital was not far away.

  6. Seems like Foxtel or Auststar is an absolute necessity in Kingston as we can't get free to air reception to save ourselves in Kingston! Perhaps we need to get a technician in to see what we are doing wrong?

  7. MESSAGE FROM LESTER GROUP

The subject of Digital TV is very topical at the moment in all regional towns. The update for Kingston is:

Kingston falls within the GWN, WIN, ABC & SBS transmission and all these stations will be transmitting in digital format in the greater Bunbury area by the end of the year.

Due to license restrictions, Perth television stations do not have the ability to transmit in this region. The Kingston aerial has provided the possibility of some reception from Perth stations (in analogue format), however, this is less likely once digital broadcast commences.

To watch digital television you must have a digital set-top box or a digital TV.

  8. Can someone please tell me what they do for internet around here. I have just moved in and i phoned up telstra to organise broadand internet to be connected. To my digus they said that we have a spilt line, and the reason for this is because for the developers to save costs when they developed kingston they have spilt the phone line between neighbours and therefore now we are unable to get broadband. This is complete bul************. Apprantly now being people are developing estate its illegal to spilt lines, so now what do they expect us to do, i run a business from home and relay on the internet. If i knew this i wouldn't have bought in kingston.

  9. continued from above message;
They reckon that wireless works but i tried that and we don't get signal where we are. So im left without the internet and im really not happy. You guys best be upgraded your phone lines soon because i know i fair few other people with the same problem. Can anyone shead some light on my issues!

  10. Hello

The fault with the phone lines is not the Developers. The Residents Committee has had ongoing discussions with Telstra over this for the past 3 years. Telstra are not upgrading the exchange, which means they can only supply a certain number of lines to Kingston. Feel free to come along to the next meeting - August 12 at 7pm at the Kingston Primary School. We'd love to know how you're getting on.

The next best is to contact Oceanbroadband as they are part of the government guarantee, and provide the antenna and set up for free. Most of our street use it, and apart from the odd black out have no problem at all.

    Hope that helps.

  11. I too have tried to get broadband through Telstra, they even rang me and offered me this great special offer only to ring me back about 2 weeks later and tell me I was not able to get broadband because there was an inhibitor on my line...I gave up for about 3 months and then I rang TPG and I had broadband in 4 days...so give it a go..can't hurt.

  12. Sorry Lester Group, you are incorrect about the Perth TV licence restrictions. Treendale residents can get HD channels such as GO and One, as can Dalyellup (sometimes). I've got a mate who lives in Bunbury and he gets them all. If the signal `floats' to us and we have an aerial to receive it, and a digital tv or set top box, then we can tune in - simple as that. Add a booster and the capability to receive these channels and you will win back a lot of friends Lester Group. Otherwise you will start seeing a hell of a lot more aerials going up...

  13. I recently read an article regarding the free to air channel GO or channel 99, someone asked when it was going to be available in regional Western Australia and the answer was, and I quote "The signal for GO! is received in most parts of WA, but there are still remote pockets that miss out. A WIN digital guru tells me the signal will be rolled out to those areas eventually." so when is it going to be available in "our remote pocket" of Kingston???? surely we aren't in that remote an area not to receive signals from Perth. So c'mon Lester Group...how about doing an update on the tower..

  14. wondering if the Lester Group even read any of these posts. It would be nice if the residents of this fine estate could be advised of any upgrades or any work at all on fixing this problem regarding HD free to air channels.

  16. I decided to retune my TV yesterday, and what a surprise, we NOW have all the HD free to air channels...way to go Lester Group....

    ReplyDelete
  17. When you say you have all the HD free to air channels, are you sure about that because we have only the SBS & ABC is HD! we have a brand new TV aswell so it can't be that. Can anyone help!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. It is definitely a case of tuning the television and re-tuning it regularly to maintain the channel selection. It is possible to get them in Kingston, it just needs the TV re-tuned to receive them.

    ReplyDelete
  19. yes I do have all the free to air HD channels...about 23 digital and 10 TV channels...I re-tune my TV once a week... some days though, the digital channels are very pixilated (spelling?)

    ReplyDelete
  20. The pixelation is due to atmospheric conditions -- the weather.. and there is nothing that we can do about that one.

Some satellite internet connections are the same.

  21. Is everyone aware that Lester Group are trying to remove Kingston's Peacock Family that have lived in the area for 10years and even before Kingston was even here . ?

  22. This is the first that I had heard of this. I will raise it with Stuart or whoever is at the Land Sales office on 20th September, as this is very important and can't be left until our committee meeting on 6th October. If you are able to attend that meeting then please do so.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The story was on GWN News on the 9th Of September and there is also a facebook group with over 110 members to help save the peacocks. The deserve to stay as they are beautiful.Could you please let me know how you go on the 20th ? & also where is the meeting on the 6th of Oct ?
    Thanks

  24. The 6th October meeting will be at 7.30pm at the Land Sales Office. I didn't catch anyone at the office on 20th but will try again 22nd. I watched the video online of the news article.
I think this is something that the Residents Committee should be really pursuing, and I have e-mailed Stuart to make sure the message gets through. I will also put it on the Facebook page for the Group. I couldn't find the facebook group you referred to though.
