Country Women's Association
Community group meeting on a weekly basis for all women, contact Amanda Lovitt on 9796 1414 for further details.
CWA meets in the Staff Room of the Kingston Primary School. Come in through the gate at the right of the Admin building on MacQuarie Drive, and you'll probably hear us chatting and laughing from there.
How does one start a new thread on this blog? I am interested in discussing neighbourhood watch type programmes, or other community building exercises. A friend of mine, who lives around the corner in Kingston (we both live in Kingston) had her house broken into by a group of young boys...while she was in the house! When they saw her they scattered... and came back into the house an hour later! Nothing was taken though, as she was present at both visits. I'm not sure if she reported it to the police, as the children were very youn (she estimated around 10 yo) and nothing was taken. Is this type of incident common in Australind / Kingston?
Hi, I have sent an e-mail to the list owners to get a new topic put on about Neighbourhood Watch for you. It would have been very worrying for your friend having the house entered like that. The only way the kids will learn or get caught is if actions like that are reported to the Police. That is a very rare incidence in Kingston. We have (very stupidly) forgotten to lock doors, close garage doors, and even left a computer on the driveway overnight, and nothing has happened. So, it was a very isolated case.
Kingston's CWA Branch now has 10 members, and having a lot of fun.
There will be a Garden Party at "Clearview" Cathedral Avenue, Australind at 2pm on 5th September. Come along and support CWA with stalls to buy from, and of course Tea & Scones!
I will be there. Amanda
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know the new location for CWA meetings?
